Nottingham Shilohs and Stall Europa are proud to announce the arrival of Nottingham's Tray of Cheeses! We have 11 cheeses - 6 girls and 5 boys. All are doing great and Ember is taking a much needed rest.

As for the boys we have: Asiago, Colby, Muenster, Gouda, Blue

Ember started delivering about noon today! From the looks of the x-ray we're in for a long day but so far mamma and babies are doing great.

The Ember/Elvis breeding has been confirmed and puppies are due the weekend of August 20th.
Little Miss Ember has gained a whopping 10 pounds already and she has several weeks to go. We have recently increased her feeding to 3 times a day and she seems to be loving the extra food! Who can believe it but Ember has become lazy! She just wants to sleep by the air conditioning vent, but who can blame her when it is 100 degrees outside.
Ember is enjoying all the visitors we have been having and of course she expects everyone to rub her belly and so far everyone has very willingly complied:)
We will be doing a puppy count via x-ray on August 13th so we can tell about how many babies she is growing in her belly.

She inherits her stamina and heavy bone from the Artus lines, brings size from the Orbit lines and her intelligence and loyal nature from the old Shiloh lines behind her.

bCH Glorious Elvis von Europa is the epitome of what a Shiloh Shepherd should be. He is a dark grey sable plush coated Shiloh with incredible size, bone, a nice big broad head, great pigment and a true Shiloh temperament. He has an impeccable set of old Shiloh lines behind him which include Bo/Jewel and Shep/Trinka. He has already sired some exceptional litters and his offspring continue to showcase his lines. He has reliably passed on his laid back temperament to his offspring. Elvis brings good movement, great temperament, and impressive size as well as a beautiful head and ears to the equation.

Seeing the babies grow up

On sunday we got the opportunity to see 4 of the Ember/Quinn puppies and all I can say is that I was impressed. These girls are growing like weeds and can we say friendly! It was such a joy to see them and interact with them. As you can see they are looking spectacular and have temperaments to die for. I can't say enough good things about this litter. I am just so proud of all of them.
From left to right we have:Ziva, Delilah, Rayvn, Grace and in front is Daddy Quinn.

new year, new happenings

It sure has been a long time since I have posted on this site. I will try and do better in the coming months. We have chosen Embers next date and will announce it shortly but for the time being just know we think we will have very similar results to our last breeding with quinn. Stay tuned for that exciting news.

Right now we are planning a Shiloh fun day on February 21st at The Dog School of Leesburg. We invite everyone to come out and learn about shilohs, let your shilohs play and help decide what events the Shiloh club will be doing in the coming year. If you would like more details e-mail me.

Nottingham Shilohs will be at Pawsabilities in PA on March 13th and 14th. Willow will continue the tradition of educating the public and letting everyone climb all over her. Please come and visit us at the Shiloh booth. I know there will be several Ember/Quinn puppies there!

We have also discovered the best trainer in the area. She has helped me through several training situations, she is a certified APTD trainer and CGC tester and she has experience working with shepherds! A link to her site will be coming soon.

Herding trial

The herding trial was great! Loxley (juniper) and Delilah (saffron) were there and while Loxley wanted nothing to do with the sheep, Delilah just loved them.

The puppies have all gone to their new homes and the Nottingham household is getting finally getting back to normal. We are happy to announce that all puppies are doing great in their new homes and are growing like puppies should.

We are now on to our next adventure which is a herding trial sponsored by Nottingham Shilohs and Keepstone Farm. The herding trial will be taking place on November 7th and 8th in Berryville, VA. We will be having 2 test level classes; HCT and JHD, and 3 trial level classes; HTD, HTAD and HRD. There are still runs available! Here is a link to where you can get a premium -

Today has been kinda hard on me diary. Mom took all of my babies with her this morning when she left for work. It is so unfair! She hasn't let me nurse them at all today. I got to see them and play some but I haven't nursed them. Maybe mom will let me tonight. I hope so. My babies love me and I love them.
I guess it wasn't all bad with my babies gone. I had some peace and quite and got to spend sometime with my brothers and sisters. I guess that was good.
Mom says she will be taking my babies with her every morning and that I just need to get used to it. She says that it will make them better when they go to their new families. I hope their new families enjoy them as much as I did. I know I will be sad to see them go, but I know they have to.
Cher, Heather and Dr. Amy left. I miss them. Mom says I will see them in 2 weeks but that seems like a long time. Oh well, life goes on and as long as they still bring me my food, everything will be alright.

Dear Diary
Mom suprised me last night and brought 2 of my favorite people home. My other mommy Cher and my friend Heather all stayed at my house last night. Of course they played with the puppies but they also played and loved on me. I am so happy to have them all here.
I tried to show them how well I take care of my babies. My babies and I played last night and put on a big show for Heather and Cher.
Mom says she is glad they came down so now we can get some really good pictures of my babies. Speaking of my babies they are all doing fine. They are fat and happy and that is the way mom says they should be. I still love them but they have really sharp teeth and they hurt. Oh well, they are my babies.
I think I hear mom calling. It must be time for breakfast.

Mom had more people over to see my babies today. I don't care. I like the attention. My babies seem to be leaving me alone more often. I like that. I am really sore from their teeth. They bite! My puppies are almost 5 weeks old and they are doing great. Mom is letting me sleep upstairs with her. She said we are starting to crate train my babies so I don't have to be around them as much. Don't get me wrong, I do love my babies but they have some sharp teeth and bite. I like to play with them but on my terms and not usually all 8 at once. Mom and Dad still have people coming over to see me and the babies all the time. She says it will help us in the long run. Something about having a properly socialized puppy - whatever that means. She has even put up an umbrella in my puppy area saying the same thing about "something new and different" who knows. Sometimes I think mom is crazy.
Well, got to go, mom is taking us all out to play before it gets too hot. She said she needs to wear us out before the visitors come.

Sorry I haven't written to you in some time. Life has been busy with my puppies. They have gotten big and they have gotten teeth. I really want to be with them but the hurt me. I try and try but it hurts so I stay away mostly. Mom and dad are giving them really good food so they don't need me as much. I miss the times when they needed me. I still love them. They are getting big enough that I can play with them. They chase me around and bite my tail and my hair. Mom and dad take a lot of pictures of me playing with my babies. They think it's cute.
Much still doesn't like the my babies. He won't even come downstairs to be with us. The babies love their uncle Tuck and aunt Willow and I am sure they would love Much if he would give them a chance. Oh well, his loss.
Mom still has lots of people coming to visit. Last weekend we had 4 people on saturday and 6 on sunday. I love all these people. They play ball with me and love on me. I like that.

Dear Diary,

My puppies are growing like weeds. Mom and Dad are now feeding them this mushy stuff. It looks really gross but they eat it and when they are done I sneak in and eat what they don't. I am still hungry all the time. Mom says I have over 40 pounds of puppies that I am taking care of.
They are starting to play with me and all the toys mom has for them. They follow me around and we play. Mom says that we are going to take them outside today when she gets home from work. I can't wait. Maybe I can get one to play ball with me.

I still love them. They are my babies and I love to lay with them and let them crawl all over me. Willow is trying to help me take care of them. I let her because she is gentle with them and would never hurt them. Tuck and Much are afraid of my babies. They run when my babies go near them. It is really funny to watch because Much is so big and the babies are so small and he is afraid of them. Oh well, maybe one day he will be brave and play with them.

Well diary, enough for now. Dad wants to go outside and maybe he will throw my ball for me.

Dear Diary,

Mom keeps taking my babies away from me. She tries to hide them and thinks I don't notice when they are gone. What is she thinking? I can count! and I know how many babies I have. Today she set up a pen in the basement and put my puppies in it. She said they are getting big and it is time to start introducing them to new sights and sounds and things. I don't care about this socializ...whatever it is. I just want to be with my babies. Luckily for mom she let me be with them in the pen and let me get out when I wanted to.

Mom is still bringing people over to see me. We had Deb over today. I like her. She is really nice to me and yesterday we had Siegi over. She pet me and loved on me for a while. I like them. I hope they come back. Of course they played with my babies also but as long as I got attention that is all that matters.

My babies are getting big! They want to eat a lot and I just can't help but get in there with them and feed them. Mom and Dad keep stealing babies from me and taking them out to the couch with them. I am ok with this until they start to cry. Then I have to go and check out what is happening. Sometimes I like to go and lick my babies when dad has one and it starts to cry and dad can't get it settled so he gives it back. It is kinda fun to tease dad that way.

So dad has been home with me and that has been fun. He is always in the box playing with my puppies. At least it gives me a break :) I can go upstairs and play with my brothers and sister.

Did I mention that my babies are starting to walk around? Well they are. Pretty soon they will be running and mom and dad will have to catch us. Hee hee I can't wait for that.

My babies are 2 weeks old now and they are really moving. They have gotten so big! They are figuring out how to walk and by the end of the week mom says they will be running! Maybe then we can all play. Mom says she has to go to work on monday but that dad is staying home with me. That's fine, I love my daddy. He lets me get away with lots of things and loves to feed me treats. I think we will have fun these next couple of weeks with dad.

Mom and dad are still bringing people over to see me. I love it when they come to see me and of course play with my babies. I get a break when people are over. I don't have to be with my babies all the time because these nice people hold them and talk to them and play with them.

Mom says it is time to take more pictures so I guess I better go and help. I will tell mom to show them to everyone!

Well it is day 12 of me having babies and I still love them! They have gotten much bigger and eat a lot, but that is ok, I enjoy feeding them and cleaning them. They are so much fun. I only wish I didn't have to feed them at night. I like sleeping with mommy and don't like to get up when they cry. I am trying a new tactic. I am feeding them a lot today so maybe I won't have to feed them at night. I hope it works but I don't think mom will let me do that. She makes me get up when they start crying. Oh well, I do love them.

Their eyes are starting to open. Mom and Dad have made a big deal out of that. So what? now they will be able to see where they are going and what to nurse on and maybe they won't nurse on my skin anymore and just nurse where they are supposed to.

Well time to go, Mom gives me ice cream at this time because she says I am such a good mommy to my babies that I deserve a treat. I like ice cream!

It has been a while since I wrote in you but I am finally getting some time to myself. I love my babies and they love me. I love feeding them and playing with them and cleaning them. When I get in my whelping box they all cry for me and come crawling to me. I just love them.

Guess What? Mom keeps bringing all these very nice people in to see me. I just love all the attention that I have been getting. I take them into my room and show them my babies. They love my babies. I let them hold them and snuggle with them. I keep a watch on them but mom stays there too so I don't have to worry. Mom says my babies are getting big. She says that they are over 2 pounds now and are getting bigger every day! I can't wait until I can take them outside with me and show them how to play ball.

I have had these babies for three days now and I think I am in love. I love them. I love their smell, their bottoms and the way they call to me. I can't stand to be away from them. I just love them. I am tired and sore but seeing my babies makes me happy. My belly is gone and mom and dad are feeding me lots of food. I got to see my brothers and sisters again. They wanted to see my babies but I didn't want to share just yet. Mom makes my bed several times a day and sits in there with me which I really like. Mom has even taken to giving me special treats! Last night I had ice cream! It was yummy. I hope I can have some more tonight.

OH MY GOSH!!!! You will never guess what happend to me today!?!?!

These noisy, squeeky, smelly things came out of me. What the Heck! It started last night - I actually woke mom up with one hanging out of me. She called to dad and then to Dr. Amy and they came running. They said I had more in me and that was the reason my belly was so big and why I was feeling pretty bad yesterday. Well they were right, I spat out several more. It took me all night long and mom, dad and Dr. Amy looked pretty rough in the morning but eventually I got eight babies out. Mom says there are seven girls and one boy. WOW! I can't believe that just happend to me. Actually Diary- I kinda like them. They snuggle up to me and I get very worried when they leave me. I think they are going to be fun.

I am tired and it has been a long day so I am going to take a nap.

I think mom is crazy! She was talking to my belly yesterday. It was really strange. It was right before we went to bed (yes, mom is still sleeping downstairs with me) and she was telling all the babies to be good to me. I really think something is wrong with her. Hopefully she will snap out of it. Maybe I should let her get some rest upstairs in her bed. No way, I am training her the way I want her.

Mom keeps sticking that thermometer in me. She said today that my temperature was down and that she was going to check again later to see if it came it up. She seems kinda worried. She said if it didn't come up then I was going to have babies! Diary, what are babies? Is that what my belly is full of? I hope not! All this talk of babies is making me hungry. Maybe I will go and try and get some food from dad. He is always a big sucker when I blink my eyes at him.

Dear Diary,

I got sick yesterday. Mom says that my belly is so big it is pushing on my stomach and I can't eat a full meal. So today mom and dad have given me food all day long! They keep feeding me. My belly doesn't feel as bad and I really like getting food all day. I love eating!

Guess what? I tricked mom into sleeping downstairs with me. All I had to do was pant all night long (it gets so hot upstairs) that mom set up a bed downstairs just so I would be more comfortable. She told me she set up a whelping box or something like that but I prefer the bed. My brother Tuck likes sleeping in the box thing and I sleep on the bed with mom. Ha Ha, I know how to play mom, she is such a push over!

Mom has started doing something to me that is humiliating. She is taking my temperature three times a day and I have to stand there and take it. Enough already! It's embarrassing! She keeps saying I am not ready to pop yet, whatever that means. Hopefully it means that I will get rid of this huge belly, I can barley make it up and down the steps and laying down is getting harder and harder.

Oh, I think I hear dad feeding me again. Got to go!

Mom says the day is getting close. She said she set up my whelping box and I have lots of blanket to lay on. She is nervous about something. I don't really know what but I do know that my belly is still growing and it is getting harder and harder to move around and to get up. It is so hot here! Mom keeps turning down the air for me but it doesn't help. She said she would sleep downstairs just so I would be more comfortable. She even set up a bed downstairs - hopefully it is for me.

Diary, I got locked in the bathroom the other day. I was sleeping in there and I think my legs must have pushed the door closed. I heard mom and dad calling for me but they couldn't find me. I had to bark at them to let them know where I was. I kinda did it again today too. The bathroom is so cool to lay in. I guess i just get dreaming about running again and my legs start moving and the door just shuts with me locked in. Oh well, mom knows where to look now. Well diary, going to go and sleep again. I am so sleepy now a days. I just don't know whats wrong.

Dear Diary,

Mom is feeling better! Yea, she is off the couch and is taking us outside to play again. I don't like when mom is sick - I am glad she is better.

Mom says she is taking me to see Doctor Amy tomorrow. She said we need to see how many babies are in my belly. I love going to see Doctor Amy. She gives me all kinds of food and loves on me and sometimes I go into her bag and she brings tennis balls for me. Well, mom said wasn't a tennis ball but an apple. I didn't care, it looked like a ball and mom and Dr. Amy threw it for me, but it did seem to get squishy. Mom let me bite it and it was good. Dr. Amy shares her lunch with me. Anything she has she will give me. Sometimes I eat so much with Dr. Amy that I don't want dinner.

The cat has been limping again. Mom says we need to stop playing with the cat and let him rest. How come we can't play with him? He comes up to us to play and we just have to walk away? It's just not fair. Willow isn't listening to mom about the cat. She is playing with him right now. Maybe I will go and tell mom and get her in trouble.

Got to go and find mom and tell on my sister.

It's day 46 and mom doesn't look so good. She took me to work with her yesterday (i think for support) and she said I weighed in at 105 pounds. Wow, I have never been above 91#. My belly is huge! Anyways, back to mom, when we got home she went right to the couch and fell asleep. She says I look bad but she needs to look at herself! She is somewhat better today. She said it was all allergies, but I think she is sick. She did get off the couch today and of course she remembered to feed me. She even gave the cat some wet food. I snuck some - it was good. Well, diary - it is getting harder and harder to get up, my belly is so big and it gets in the way. Mom says I will have babies soon, lets hope my belly goes back to normal. I want to run and play again.

Oh boy, dad is home and that means I get fed again. Yea! Got to go and get dinner.

It's day 44 and mom brought me a surprise today. She brought me my boyfriend Quinn to play with. I don't know how long he is staying but I hope he will stay for a while. Mom even lets me run and play in the yard with him. I think Much is jealous, he is staying really close to me. He doesn't like it when Quinn gets near me - my overprotective brother!

Mom had these nice people and their children out yesterday to play with us. I played for a little bit and then I got tired and went into the cool garage and slept. For some reason I am sleepy all the time and want to eat everything and mom is feeding me! I like all the food and I really like when mom rubs my belly. It feels so good!

Well diary - I am going to go outside and play with Quinn. I just love that boy.

Well, its day 42 since my date with Quinn and it is still raining. Mom won't let me go outside for long, she says I get too wet and track in too much mud, but I like the mud. If mom would let me I would stay outside and lay in the wet grass. It feels so good against my belly.

Mom fed me again today when she came home. I really like this midday meal. I love to eat and right now I seem to be hungry all the time.

Dad came home early today and I was really excited, I love when dad comes home early. I just love my daddy. He rubs my belly and says "grow those babies". I don't really know what he is talking about but when I wiggle my butt and howl he really like that.

Well, got to go - dad is feeding me again. I love all this food!

Dear Diary,

It's day 41 since my date with Quinn and I am feeling ok. Mom keeps telling me that I have a belly full of babies. Well, I don't know about that but I sure do like that mom is giving me more food when she comes home from work. I do feel a little tired and don't like to chase my ball as much and my belly is bigger. It seems that my belly has a mind of its own and swings when I walk. I have lost my girlish figure. That darn Quinn! But he was very cute and I would like to see him again...

Mom did a funny thing the other day, she took the cat away in the morning saying something about a wound on his rear. I think she is blaming my brother- ha ha, he will get in trouble. The cat came home that night and he was wearing this funny thing around his head and mom said we had to be nice to him and leave him alone. She even put the big gate up so we couldn't see him. I didn't like the thing on his head but mom said I couldn't take it off of him. The cat didn't like staying in his room so he jumped the gate and came to see me. Mom had to lock the cat up in the room. Oh well, he will be fine.

Well, it looks like it isn't raining now, I think I am going to try and get mom to take me out to play.

Nottingham Shilohs, in conjunction with Stall Europa, of Virginia is excited to announce the pairing of Ember and Quinn. Our expectations for the puppies from this pairing include suitability to excel at conformation, breeding, working and most certainly as loyal companions. We anticipate these puppies to excel at almost any activity an owner would want to pursue, from obedience to therapy work and also expect them to have medium-soft to medium temperaments.

These puppies will come from excellent blood lines as this litter combines pure old Shiloh lines via Quinn with the new blood of both Orbit and Artus via Ember. We anticipate healthy plush coated Shilohs with big bone structure, nice broad heads, great height, nice movement and a willingness to please. Pigment on these puppies should be exceptional. All health testing has been done and both parent dogs have passed with above average scores.

Keystone’s Scarlet’s Ember is a beautiful plush golden sable with rich pigmentation. She is a 3^rd generation double new blood, with Orbit from Keystones Jasper Jax O'Zion and Artus from Jersey's Midnight Run ODS Zion. Ember is big boned, has been blessed with a gorgeous broad head including great stop, and exhibits beautiful movement. To say Em has an exuberant personality is an understatement; this girl loves life and is willing to please. Ember is the perfect combination of Artus, Orbit and old line Shiloh. She inherits her stamina and heavy bone from the Artus lines, brings size from the Orbit lines and her intelligence and loyal nature from the old Shiloh lines behind her. This is her first breeding.

Sunstar's Mighty Quinn von Europa is the epitome of what a Shiloh Shepherd should be. He is a beautiful bi-black and silver plush coated Shiloh with incredible size, bone, a nice big broad head and great pigment. Quinn is a true gentle giant with impeccable bloodlines including Trinka/Shep, Mistie/Laz and Tessa/Bear, all in the third generation behind him. His stature and look resemble his grandmother Luna and her brothers Phantom and Simon. Quinn has inherited his father Elvis’ laid back personality and wants nothing more than to be with his people.

Willow, Much, Ember & Tuck

Welcome to Nottingham Shilohs. We are located in Loudoun County Virginia, just 20 minutes from Frederick, Maryland, 30 minutes from Gettysburg, PA and 1 hour from Washington DC.

We purchased our first Shiloh in 1999 and instantly fell in love with the breed. In the 10 years we have had Shilohs they have accomplished many things. Our first Shiloh helped get the breed recognized by the American Herding Breed Association and has since gone on to compete in herding at a trial level; he also frequently participates in educational events for local elementary and middle school children. All of our Shilohs are CGC tested and our 2 boys are Therapy dogs. We are active members in the ISSDC and I chair the ISSDC South-East Region.

Our Shilohs are home raised and kept underfoot. They are our constant companions and viewed as members of our family. Our Breeding girl is TSSR registered and has passed all of her health testing. Our goal is to produce gentle healthy companions for everyday life that will become an asset to the breed.
